Decorating Your Kitchen Cabinets
Do you have older kitchen cabinets that you either want to keep or can’t afford to replace? There are several ways to update those cabinets to look nicer and better fit with your kitchen décor. You don’t need to have a ton of time or money to do so. Check out some of these decorating options to update your kitchen cabinets.
Add New Hardware to the Kitchen Cabinets
If you’re looking for a simple and inexpensive way to update your kitchen cabinets, install some new hardware. By adding new pulls or handles, you can really change the look of a cabinet. Cabinet hardware doesn’t take long to install and it’s also inexpensive. If you really want to add a creative twist to your kitchen and spruce up your cabinets, look for unique handmade or hand-painted cabinet pulls.
Paint the Kitchen Cabinets
Painting your kitchen cabinets is usually easier than you think it’s going to be. You may not even have to sand them before painting, depending on the style and color of your old cabinets. To make the job easier, remove the doors and paint them on a flat surface for the best coverage.
If you’re looking to completely change the look of the room, go with an entirely new color. For instance, if you have a country kitchen that you want to turn modern, painting the cabinets will help you accomplish this. This type of painting project usually takes a weekend, leaving you with a kitchen that looks brand-new come Monday morning.
Take the Doors Off the Cabinets
Another way to instantly update those kitchen cabinets is to take the doors off some of the units. With the doors removed, you can either show off what’s inside or display a collection that adds to the kitchen décor. You don’t have to take off every cabinet door; even just two open cabinets can change the entire look of the kitchen. Do be sure, however, that you are prepared to keep the inside of the open cabinets clean and organized. You want to be comfortable showing off the items inside before you remove the doors. For instance, antique china is wonderful to display, whereas a collection of plastic cups is not.
Replace the Cabinet Doors
If you’re looking to update your kitchen and want to fit your cabinets into your new décor, a great option is to replace the cabinet doors. These days, there are many different types of kitchen cabinet doors available. For instance, you can find doors that have designs built in to them. There are also doors that have windows. If you’re going to replace your cabinet doors, you want a cabinet door that matches the theme and style of your kitchen. This will make the cabinets cohesive with the rest of the room. Be sure to measure your cabinets properly before selecting your doors, as this will ensure that they will fit.
By using one or more of these ideas to update your kitchen cabinets, you can take your kitchen from old to stylish and new. Any of these renovations can dramatically change the look of the kitchen without costing you thousands of dollars. So go ahead, decide on the best option for your décor, and update your look now.

5 Simple Tips to Makeover Your Kitchen on a Budget
Is your kitchen falling out-of-date? If it is there are some simple and inexpensive ways for you to renew its look without having to waste tons of money on refreshing the kitchen. Though you may be stuck with your kitchen’s floor plan you can always accentuate the positive and spruce up the kitchen that you have, and unless you have thousands of dollars to completely re-model the kitchen this is something you will have to do.
Add New Cabinet Hardware
Though it sounds very simple, a lot can be accomplished by simply adding new cabinet hardware. Adding new cabinet handles and removing the old ones will help bring style to the kitchen. If a contemporary look is what you want for the kitchen, then silver or brushed nickel handles can be used.
Your cabinet handles can truly vary in price, starting at around $.50 a pull and moving up to $20 a pull. Make sure to set your budget and take into account the hardware pieces that will be needed.
A Fresh Coat of Paint in the Kitchen
The cost of paint isn’t too steep, especially when working will minimal wall areas. Even a kitchen with wallpaper can be instantly changed, though it might take a little extra time.
Your cabinets should be complimented by the colors you use for painting. If the color of your cabinets is something that bothers you, you can repaint or stain them too. You can also choose to repaint the whole ceiling if it has yellow grease marks on it.
Freshen Up Your Kitchen: Add Some Green
The simple addition of plants or flowers to the kitchen can really freshen up the room. Be careful that you don’t create clutter with the plants or flowers, one on top of a cabinet or in the corner of the room is all that will be needed for changing the room’s look. Remember to take care of your plants daily if you decide to use them or else you will just have wasted your money.
New Light Fixture
New light can be brought to the kitchen for an instant update. While the price on light fixtures can widely vary, you are likely to find one for your kitchen that is under $100.
Recessed fluorescent lighting, is definitely something that you would want to change if you have it. Try not to keep to your old style of lighting, instead try something new like a tracking light that will give you the light you need in places like the stove. A new design element can be added along with new light from the light fixtures.
Put Your China on Display
Why not put your hidden china, if you have any, on display and to good use? Consider a glass door as a replacement for one of your cabinet doors. Grab attention with your china by arranging it ion a cabinet and showing it off. Putting up a shelf on one of the walls and displaying china on it can also be a good idea as long as the china stays fastened and doesn’t fall.
Updating your kitchen doesn’t mean having to spend a lot of money. Creativity and the resources you have can add instant style to your kitchen.

Organize Your Space the Right Way With Kitchen Storage Canisters
If you need a solution for your disorganized and messy kitchen then you need to acquire a quality set of kitchen canisters to restore order to your home. Most people only think that there is one kind of canister on the market and that is a shame. You can still find the same old kitchen storage canisters that your grandmother used, but why settle for the same old vintage style glass or ceramic options? These days you can find airtight containers that will not only allow you to organize your space, but will help you make a statement with their stylish and cutting edge look. Forget the junky, old style kitchen canisters and get in with the new and fashionable containment systems.
No matter what style or theme your kitchen has there are canisters to help you keep it together effectively. You can find canisters in acrylic, steel, glass and even high quality plastic in just about any color you can think of and any size you need. There is nothing saying that you have to put your products on display in your kitchen on the shelf or counter top but isn’t it nice to know that you have that option? Depending on how much money or effort you want to put into your canister hunt, the sky is the limit. You can select the typical cylindrical shape in order to save space in any kitchen, or you can choose to go with a custom designed canister to fit your specific space perfectly.
The first step in choosing the right canister for your home is to select a material. As we have said, you can buy canisters made of virtually any material, but not all of them will work for you. For example, if you have young children in the house you may want to steer clear of the glass and clay ones and go towards an indestructible plastic model. If you are planning on displaying them and need a certain color and shape then you may have to opt for the custom-made glass style. If you put thought into the decision you will avoid making a devastatingly wrong choice.
Keep in mind that if you choose to go with a clear glass canister and feel that you want to display them then everyone that enters your kitchen will be able to see the contents. Many people choose to use this type because they feel that foods are beautiful and that they add a certain beauty to the space. Some of the most popular display foods are things like pasta and other grains. The only word of advice that we can give you about this is that you need to keep the food filled all of the time. If you are displaying mostly empty canisters of food then it no longer looks decorative and starts to look messy and neglected. The right sets of kitchen canisters will not only add functionality to your kitchen but it can add an organizational quality that most kitchens around the world are lacking.

My New Kitchen!
I want a brand new kitchen area but sadly do not have the funds at the moment. I decided to look on the net for additional suggestions on how to liven up my sad looking kitchen area and give it a lift without spending a fortune.
I thought I would give a breath of fresh air into my gloomy kitchen with wonderful kitchen lighting. I believed if I looked on the internet I could not just find a fantastic lighting set for my kitchen but also at a low price. I discovered an excellent new selection of kitchen lighting called constellation range which included many choices including wall lights, spot lights and bar lights which came me some excellent ideas.
Spot lighting over the cooker will also increase the lighting in my dingy kitchen area but will assist in making the cooker a centre peace in the kitchen. By also purchasing a new cooker it will be an all round nice feature within the kitchen.
A nice set of ceramic tiles will also compliment my kitchen and make it feel a lot more welcoming, rather than my dirty, grubby tiles I currently have. This is going to be very cost successful as porcelain and natural stone tiles are much more expressive. I can pick from a selection of colours to make certain it suits my bathroom.
I can’t wait to have my new kitchen! I recommend that anybody wanting to replace their kitchen area to contemplate whether giving it a much needed face lift will do the job without having you spending the cash.

DIY Your Kitchen!
With the cost of professional home improvement services going up many people are deciding to do it themselves. And with the amount of how to books and shows available most people are able to do basic projects like updating larder drawers or installing shelves. And some projects need less hands-on work, like updating furniture and window treatments.
One of the favourite rooms for improvement is the kitchen. Many first time buyers have to live with outdated styles for a few years before they can make any major changes. But even while waiting they can make a few changes. They can add small and affordable touches like a wall spice rack or easy fit larder drawers. They can get new counter top storage bins or a wall mounted plate rack. Any of these, and a fresh paint job, will definitely liven up a kitchen.
If the budget allows, homeowners may want to consider adding new pieces of kitchen furniture. Even if they only have a little space they may want to consider a traditional rack dresser, designed for smaller kitchens. This piece is perfect for displaying treasured collectibles such plates or ceramic knick knacks. Another idea is a kitchen trolley, which is multi use and can free up some space in the larder drawers.
Sometimes a kitchen can be freshened up with a simple change in window curtains. Or add blinds for an up to date look and variable sun protection. Another easy change is to add or update the chair pillows on the kitchen set. There are many patterns and styles available to fit just about every taste. And some changes are easy and inexpensive to do yet make a big difference. One example is refitting old cabinets with sliding larder drawers, instantly making your kitchen storage more accessible and organized.
Once the budget allows, homeowners may want to consider bigger changes in their kitchens. They may want to replace old appliances with new, more energy efficient pieces. If they can’t replace all the cabinets they may want to try just changing the fronts to class or wood doors. And if they only had a chance to update a few of the larder drawers before, now’s the time to change them all as they can find the sturdy chromed easy fit drawers in small, medium, and large sizes.
Whether making small changes or big, updating a kitchen is always a worthwhile project. It is one of the rooms in a home that gets the most use. And it is, in a sense, a work room so it should be functional and comfortable. And changes like the trolley or the sliding larder drawers are very practical because they make the room more organized and supplies more accessible. Cookware and baking pans can be kept out of the way when not in use, and ingredients can be stored neatly. And when the kitchen is more convenient to work in, it makes meal preparation and cooking more enjoyable and less of a chore.
Scotts of Stow is based in Stow-on-the-Wold, a small market town in the Cotswold hills – one of the most renowned and picturesque regions of England. If you are looking to buy some larder drawers for your home, please visit us online at http://www.scottsofstow.co.uk to view the products available.

Decorating Your Kitchen
Are you aware that most families spend much of their time in the kitchen, more than in any other room of the house? Thus, it’s important to create a kitchen that’s both stylish and unique, different from anything else you’ve seen before. This way, you can give your family a place where they can eat, talk, and spend time together in a unique setting that has character and charm.
Display Your Cookbooks
Do you keep your cookbooks hidden away in a drawer somewhere or on a bookshelf in the living room? Consider displaying them instead for people to see when they walk into your kitchen. You might place them on a shelf on the wall or even on the top of your fridge. By adding in a couple of cute bookends to keep everything in place, you will create a décor item that’s also very practical.
Hang Some Kitchen Signs
There are hundreds of different signs available that can be hung in the kitchen. Select a sign that fits into the theme and style of the décor you’re going for.
· If you’re going for a retro kitchen look, you might choose to hang up a neon sign, perhaps saying something like “Kitchen Open” or “Open 24 Hours.”
· You can give your kitchen some country charm with signs displaying roosters or perhaps some country sayings.
· With a piece of wood and some paint, those of you who are creative can come up with your own sign. This is a great way to ensure that no one else will have a kitchen sign like yours.
Use Recipes to Add Décor
Surprisingly, recipes actually make a pretty good wallpaper border. You can choose to either handwrite some of your favorite recipes or find pages in a cookbook or magazine. In order to protect them, the pages need to be sealed with a clear poly-acrylic. Then all you need to do is paste them to the wall.
If a wallpaper border isn’t going to work in your kitchen, then consider making a wall of recipes near your cooking area. Depending on whether you want them to be legible or not, you can choose to create more of a collage effect with the recipes. You could even take this a step further and create a collage with the recipes and different food photos to create the ultimate one-of-a-kind wallpaper.
Create a Backsplash with Some Hand-Painted Tiles
A great unique way to decorate your kitchen is by using your very own hand-painted tiles to create a backsplash. Ceramic tiles can easily be painted, and then you can use a sealer to preserve your handiwork. You might decide on themed pictures painted on random tiles, or perhaps you can have your kids get creative and paint some pictures for you. In either case, your backsplash will lend a unique look to your kitchen and add a family touch to the room as well.
Your kitchen should neither be boring, nor look the same as everyone else’s. There are plenty of items probably sitting in your kitchen right now that can be used to add personality to your kitchen. So get creative, and be sure to involve the whole family. Together you should all be able to come up with some more neat ideas for creating a unique décor in your kitchen.

Kitchen Remodeling 101
Modern kitchens are no longer shut away in the back part of the house where nobody can find them. Nowadays they’re often the heart of the house, making it easier to work in your kitchen and still be involved in the life of the family going on around you. So it’s important that your kitchen looks beautiful and is welcoming, otherwise your whole house will become less appealing.
If your kitchen is looking a little dated or worse for wear, it may be time to remodel it. Remodeling your kitchen can be a very simple project to cheer it up a bit, or it can be a major project involving the total removal and replacement of all the kitchen elements. Your budget and your handyman skills will be the major factors that determine just how extensive your remodeling project is going to be.
It’s worth spending some time studying your existing kitchen, to determine whether the problem is simply that it needs a new coat of paint and maybe some other minor changes, or whether the kitchen itself has major design flaws. Kitchens should be designed so that all the major work areas are close together. These include the sink, stove and preparation areas. Is your food storage cupboard close to the preparation bench? How about the fridge? If your whole kitchen is badly designed and a nuisance to cook in, then you may be better off starting again from scratch.
But if you’re going to remodel the whole kitchen, you need to be very careful with your budget. It’s also worth looking to see if you can recycle some of the existing elements. Maybe the stove is in good condition; it just needs to be moved. Cupboards can be reused, perhaps with new doors, but rearranged to be more convenient. Don’t get caught up in the excitement of having a completely new kitchen, unless you’re prepared substantial amounts of money.
Consider, too, whether there are cheap and simple solutions to any kitchen flaws you discover. Perhaps you don’t have enough bench space for food preparation. Rather than replacing the whole kitchen, how about installing an island bench, even a movable one that you can wheel in and out when it’s needed? If the cupboards look dated, it’s amazing how much difference a new set of handles can make. Perhaps add a coat of paint, or even go as far as replacing the cupboard doors, and your kitchen can look completely different.
Remodeling your kitchen is a great way to add value to your home, because many homebuyers will choose their new home based on whether or not they like the kitchen. Having said that, though, it’s important not to spend too much. Try to limit your remodeling budget to around 15% of the home’s value; otherwise you’re spending more than you probably should.
Once you’ve determined just how much kitchen remodeling you want to undertake in your kitchen, all that’s left is to choose the color scheme and the items you want to use in the kitchen, from bench tops to floor coverings and even light fittings. Aim for a consistent look that’s warm and inviting, and you’ll be glad you made the decision to remodel your kitchen when it’s all completed.
