Replacing Hardware for Existing Odd Size Holes
Not all hardware is made the same and sometimes the hardware that comes with the cabinets that are in your home are odd sized. This can mean that there is an issue when replacing the existing odd size holes with other hardware. How do you make the new hardware fit the cabinets when the holes are too large or too small for your new hardware? There are a few things that you can do to get your new cabinet pulls and hinges to fit without having to get new cabinets entirely.
· Large Holes – When the holes are larger than the screws for the new hardware you can do one of two things. You can either purchase inserts to make the holes smaller and allow them to be able to fit the new screws, or you can fill them with putty and drill new holes. Many people prefer to use the inserts because they are easier to use. It also keeps the cabinets from having too many holes. Drilling new holes can offer a tighter fit for the new hardware so that can be a positive for that method.
· Small Holes – These are much easier to deal with as long as they are positioned in the same spots as the new hardware needs to be. All you need to do in this situation is drill the holes a bit larger to accommodate the larger screws. If they are not spaced correctly, then you need to use what holes you can by drilling larger, plugging the ones that are not needed with putty and then drill more holes for the rest of the hardware.
· Misplaced Holes – Some hardware can have odd hole placement as well as size. In these extreme cases, you may need to completely start from scratch. This means filling the holes with wood putty, sanding them down and drilling new holes. If you do not fill the holes with properly, you end up with cabinets that look like Swiss cheese. We have much easier options such as adjustable handles and backplates that can eliminate the need for any of this with odd hole placement.
Not all cabinet hardware is created the same. For this reason, it can take a bit of work to make the new hardware work with the old odd holes. Use time and care to make sure that the cabinets look their best with the new hardware.

Painting your kitchen cabinets is usually easier than you think it’s going to be. You may not even have to sand them before painting, depending on the style and color of your old cabinets. To make the job easier, remove the doors and paint them on a flat surface for the best coverage.

Finding New Hardware to Compliment Your Kitchen Cabinets
Cabinet refacing is not necessarily a long process, but a process that you definitely do not plan on doing on a regular basis. When you choose to reface your cabinets you are probably looking to remodel your kitchen. Several times, people overlook the importance of the new cabinet hardware that will compliment the cabinet’s new surface.
A simple handle can make a huge difference on the appearance of your cabinets. Likewise, cabinet handles can set the theme of your kitchen. You will want to decide what feel you wish to portray. Do you want your kitchen to blend in with the rest of your home? Do you want your kitchen to be extremely modern? Or do you wish to make your kitchen more traditional? Once you contemplate an answer to these questions, you can more easily decide on the type of hardware you would like to use on your new cabinets.
The first thing you need to do before you even begin to shop for new hardware is to examine the drawer fronts. If you fail to do this step, you possibly could find yourself in a bit of confusion when it comes to the installation process. You need to look at the drawer box and discover where the old handle was installed. How many holes were made in the drawer? There are usually only one or two holes per drawer. When you go to the store to shop for new hardware you will need to look for drawer handles that are the same size as your original handles. However, if you don’t mind a few extra holes in your cabinets than this is obviously not a problem. To keep the cabinets professional looking, it is recommended that you keep the handles similar in size.
If your original handle has two holes you will need to be a bit more cautious when shopping for new hardware to reface your cabinets. In fact, sometimes handles that have two screws are so different in size that they still require you to drill two additional holes. The outside of the drawer will be fine because the handle will hide the two existing holes, but the inside will have two empty hole spaces. This is not a problem but more of personal preference. Some people do not like to have any extra holes in the cabinet and therefore they must look around for handles that are closer to the original handle’s size.

Types of Dining Cabinetry
Basically there are numerous types of dining room cabinetry available in the market. Similar to other investments or home renovations, a beautiful dining room comes from an in-depth and thorough exploration of the different options then landing on the best selection. Custom cabinetry is the most preferable type of cabinets among many homeowners as it provides absolute versatility. It allows homeowners to personalize and built the cabinets according to their personal tastes and practical demands. This is perfectly ideal if you wish to have a unique style of cabinets. But certainly such personal customization jobs would be rather heavy for your wallet besides consuming longer construction time.
There are also the semi-custom kitchen cabinets where they are only built after you finalize your order. They may not be as personalized as the custom cabinets but they still come in an array of options in terms of colors, styles and materials. Besides, you can select some features such as drawers with slide-outs, pantries and other useful items to enhance the cabinets.
The stock types of dining room cabinetry are the regular ones you often witness in most home improvement stores. As they are massively produced, pre-assembled in some common demand of finishing and colors as well as the dimensions, they may not fit exactly into your kitchen room. The limited range of widths may cause you to use fillers to fill-in the additional spaces between the cabinets and appliances. But of course, such cabinets are way cheaper than the custom or semi-custom cabinetries.
The ready-to-assemble kitchen cabinets already have its name explaining that they are ideally designed for those who wish to install the cabinets themselves. Homeowners can purchase such cabinets in individual ready-made units and the only task is to merge them together. The job may include using some wood dowels screws. They come in a complete packing along with these necessities. The construction work is rather simple and there will be a guide enclosed. The demand for such cabinets is rapidly growing due to the vast convenience they offer. They are now easily available in wide range of styles and materials such as particleboard, hardwood and laminate.
